Wisdom is Alive

I’ve been reading through Proverbs in the past few weeks. Here are some thoughts on wisdom.

Wisdom is alive!  We need to have a relationship with Wisdom.

Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
He guards the paths of justice,
And preserves the way of His saints.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
Equity and every good path.
Proverbs 2:3-9

The son of Nebuchadnezzar saw that Daniel had the Spirit of Wisdom.

I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you,
and that light and understanding and
excellent wisdom are found in you.
Daniel 5:14

The Spirit of the Lord is Wisdom.  It was prophesied that it would rest on Jesus.

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,
and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
Isaiah 11:1-2

Wisdom has no age limit.  It grew in the fertile soil of Jesus’ young heart.

And the Child grew and
became strong in spirit,
filled with wisdom;
and the grace of God was upon Him.
Luke 2:40

Anyone can ask for Heavenly Wisdom and receive it.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God,
who gives to all liberally and without reproach,
and it will be given to him.
James 1:5

Ask for the Spirit of Wisdom!  Paul asked the Lord to give it to the Church in Ephesus.

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.  And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. Ephesians 1:15-23

Do you notice that the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation are found in the Knowledge of JESUS?  He is the Root of Jesse.  He is the one who left His Holy Spirit (the Spirit of Wisdom) on the earth as a guarantee of our redemption.

I’ll share the words of my friend and brother, Steve Moore, on wisdom:

When I pray for the Spirit of wisdom I recognize that my flesh is like the grass, and my glory like a flower that is fading away. It might be a cute little sprout, but in the light of History it is not much more than a daisy in the field. Who am I that my life is going to have any impact upon humanity in the twentieth century? And when I see this powerful river of purpose and power flowing from eternity past to eternity future, I start to pray down that river of purpose into my life, desiring to have my life filled with the substance of that river, which is the Spirit of wisdom. In praying in this manner, I am acknowledging that my will is not accomplishing very much and that I desire for His will to be done. I need to have my life filled with His purpose, my priorities restructured to His priorities and a power infused into my life that flows according to these purposes. Isaiah described it as 'making straight the way of the LORD.'

 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom,
teaching and admonishing one another
in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:16

The prayer to Become Good Soil (www.wildatheart.org/prayer/become-good-soil-prayer) includes this:

I am your son, and I say, “Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” I choose you today; I invite you into this decade. I invite you to shape it, to lead it and guide it. Father me. Apprentice me in your Kingdom. I am an unfinished man, but I choose today to give all of me to all of you. I accept your acceptance of me. I choose to live in the present moment. I ask for a wise and discerning heart. I unite my heart with your heart. I choose to listen to your voice. I receive your peace that passes understanding. I receive your courage, I receive your strength, I receive your joy. I love you. I trust you. I choose to become good soil. You have my yes.

I urge you to invite the Word of God to dwell in you in Wisdom and let your life become a conduit for the Kingdom of Heaven to seed the earth.
